Job Description

Education/Certification:

  • Preferred: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Required: Must possess a Texas Operator's or class C driver's license and be insurable by the District

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to operate power-driven equipment

Experience:

  • Experience in maintenance of grounds and buildings and/or the operation of mowers, edgers and spreaders preferred. General
  • knowledge of machinery, hand tools and general maintenance.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to work hours necessary to ensure job requirements are completed to support the schools and student activities. Work hours can be weather dependent.
  • Ability to communicate routinely with coworkers and occasionally with School staff.
  • Must be able to take directions and complete assigned tasks on schedule with or without direct supervision.

Function

Under the direct supervision of the Site Maintenance Foreman and the general supervision of the Coordinator for Site Maintenance. Assist with the maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment.

Assist in supporting the activities of site maintenance programs and projects. Helps ensure other desirable environmental conditions are met in order to support the education mission of the District.

Reports To:

Under the direct supervision of the Site Maintenance Foreman and the general supervision of the Coordinator for Site Maintenance. Assist with the maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment. Assist in supporting the activities of site maintenance programs and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow CCISD training and procedures to operate mowing, trimming and grounds maintenance equipment, safely and proficiently.
  • Safely operate pickup truck with trailer for equipment transport.
  • Fertilizer application, aeration, mowing and raking.
  • Trim trees and shrubs.
  • Assist in planting grass, plants, shrubs and trees.
  • Check lawn equipment for proper operation and safety.
  • Assist in cleaning athletic fields, school grounds and buildings.
  • Assist in maintaining track and field facilities.
  • Clean and remove trash, brush and salvage materials from school.
  • Assist site maintenance staff as needed (which may include: repairing of canopy covers, setting posts of all types of fence and playground equipment, cleaning athletic fields).
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Check to ensure the safety of students and staff at all times.
  • Record accurate information on work orders and daily logs.
  • Responsible for quality of work performed.
  • Perform other job related duties as required for the daily operations of the school.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Lifting (heavy, 45 pounds or over), carrying (heavy, 45 pounds or over), stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffold, ramps), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck, bus).
  • Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dusts, smoke, etc.), inside, humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, microwaves, uneven surfaces, works with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone, prolonged or irregular hours, biological exposure (insects, mold, fungi, bacteria, animals, plants, etc.).
