Site Inspector- Mechanical

Part 4. Job Content

Role Objective: To provide mechanical engineering support for the successful delivery of Design & Build interior fit-out projects by reviewing mechanical designs, supervising HVAC and plumbing installations, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, monitoring construction quality, and ensuring all mechanical systems are designed, installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, Company standards, requirements and applicable statutory regulations.

4.1 Key Accountabilities

  • Review mechanical design drawings, HVAC calculations, plumbing layouts, shop drawings, builders' work drawings, material submittals and method statements to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, Company requirements and applicable codes.
  • Supervise and inspect the installation of all mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water modifications, air distribution systems, VAV boxes, FCUs, ductwork, piping, insulation, ventilation systems, plumbing, drainage and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, ELV and fire protection disciplines to ensure clash-free installation and compliance with approved designs.
  • Review equipment selections and verify compliance with approved schedules, energy efficiency requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify technical issues, review inspection requests, issue observations and non-conformance reports (NCRs), and verify corrective actions.
  • Witness pressure testing, flushing, duct leakage testing, Testing Adjusting & Balancing (TAB), pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Review commissioning procedures, TAB reports, functional performance testing reports and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Participate in factory inspections, material inspections, mock-ups, site acceptance tests (SAT), integrated systems testing and final handover inspections.
  • Assist in reviewing contractor payment applications, variation proposals and claims related to mechanical works.
  • Ensure all mechanical works comply with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Qatar Civil Defense (QCD), ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and other applicable international standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including RFIs, technical submittals, inspection records, commissioning reports and as-built documentation.

      1. Aware of the QHSE Management System.
      2. Understand the importance of conformance to the QHSE Policy and procedures and to the requirements of QHSE management system.
      3. Aware of the Customer Requirements (where relevant).
      4. Aware of the Significant Environmental Aspects and Occupational Hazards / risk in this area of operation.
      5. Understand the potential consequences of deviations from approved procedures, specifications and safety requirements.
      6. Aware of current Objectives and Targets in this area and what is the current status.
      7. Aware of emergency Preparedness & Response.
      8. Aware of Security Requirements, sexual exploitation and abuse or gender based violence.

Part 5. Working Conditions & Hazards

  • illness, incapacity and loss of time.
  • There is likelihood of frequent exposure to hazards or conditions may cause total disability or death. Requires constant use of

safety equipment.

Part 6. Job Requirement

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional registration is preferred.
  • Commissioning or TAB certification is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, construction supervision or project management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial office fit-out projects.
  • Proven experience in Design & Build projects.
  • Strong experience in HVAC, plumbing, ventilation and testing & commissioning.
  • Experience in Qatar and familiarity with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Qatar Civil Defense requirements and local authority approval procedures.
