The Opportunity
The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) role focuses on implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving safety management systems across large-scale industrial and project environments. The role involves applying structured HSE methodologies to ensure compliance with statutory regulations such as the BOCW Act and international standards like ISO 45001. It includes developing and reviewing safety documentation, identifying risks, driving preventive measures, and ensuring safe execution of project activities. The position plays a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, minimizing incidents, ensuring environmental compliance, and supporting operational excellence through proactive hazard identification, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
How you’ll make an impact
Participate in the development and review of safety documentation such as Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit to Work systems.
Act as the HSE focal point for site, project teams, and management, ensuring alignment on all HSE requirements.
Coordinate with frontline managers and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of HSE practices.
Monitor and report leading and lagging HSE indicators to support KPI tracking and performance improvement.
Collaborate with clients and subcontractor HSE representatives to ensure compliance and alignment.
Identify and manage risks associated with simultaneous operations and ensure adherence to approved safe systems of work.
Plan and deliver HSE campaigns such as toolbox talks, safety briefings, demonstrations, and emergency drills.
Provide expert guidance and advice on HSE matters to site personnel.
Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions through the incident management system.
Analyze trends from incidents and hazard observations to recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Conduct regular site inspections and engage with personnel to promote a strong safety culture.
Promote Hitachi Energy HSE processes and actively contribute to the HSE team.
Act as an ambassador for the “We Care” behavioral safety program by coaching and supporting employees.
Ensure compliance with environmental standards, including waste management and handling of hazardous substances.
Verify adherence to site-specific environmental protection measures.
Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Your background
Engineering Graduate with an Industrial Safety Diploma from a State Technical Board-approved institute (RLI/CLI/ADIS).
Minimum 10+ years of experience in HSE management within large industrial or project environments.
Qualified and experienced in accordance with the BOCW Act requirements.
Strong experience in similar HSE roles in complex project environments.
Good knowledge of ISO 45001 standards; Internal Auditor certification is an added advantage.
Formal training in incident investigation techniques.
Strong understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification, and safety management systems.
Excellent communication skills with fluency in spoken and written English.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and implement continuous improvement measures.
Demonstrated commitment to safety culture, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
