We currently have an opportunity for a Site Facilities Manager to join our Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice team and play a key role in our high-performance Project team based at Northland Region Corrections Facility. Reporting to Regional Operations Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.

Te Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. This involves the proactive management and delivery to the national portfolio of facilities including 15 prisons, 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites. This contract underpins the provision of availability of facilities to support core Government services.

Our Site Facilities Manager is a critical role with responsibility for leading a team, ensuring on time and quality jobs delivery to our customer and delivering on the required financial outcomes of the Contract. To be successful in this role, you will bring us strong people leaderships skills, great relationship management skills, good commercial acumen, proven facilities management experience and a collaborative working style.

Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments, so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times. You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations after hours.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive a lived experience (active engagement) of Zero Harm at the site;
  • Provide operational and technical leadership and direction to the Downer site team;
  • Develop strong, collaborative Customer relationships and ensure Customer interactions are positive and constructive;
  • Ensure jobs are delivered safely, cost effectively, with quality and within KPI;
  • Guide and direct the responsible use of subcontractors at the site;
  • Ensure strong financial and KPI performance of the site and are within budget;
  • Ensure the timely management of site compliance, including BWOF and HSNO requirements;

We're looking for someone who is passionate about going the extra mile! You are motivated and ready for the opportunity to take on maintenance work to achieve a high standard performance and attention to detail. You will also bring with you:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ management level experience within the facilities industry
  • Proven financial skills and an ability to both manage costs and drive improved productivity.
  • Experience in driving operational activities to ensure quality is achieved, work is completed to schedule and rework is minimised.
  • Current working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and proven commitment to Health & Safety.
  • Strong communicator who is able to work and achieve autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy including MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must hold a current full driver’s license.
