Job Description

Our Distribution Centre is the beating heart of MECCA, receiving and distributing products to more than 100 stores across Australia and New Zealand, while fulfilling online orders for our customers. As we continue to invest in the future of our Supply Chain, we’re introducing sophisticated automation technology that will transform the way our Distribution Centre operates.

We’re looking for an experienced Site Engineering Manager to join our Supply Chain team and play a pivotal role in bringing our new highly automated facility to life. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the engineering and automation function, ensuring our systems are safe, reliable and performing at their best.

The Role You Could Play:

Reporting to the National Distribution Centre Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day engineering, maintenance and automation function across the site.

From conveyors and sortation systems to AS/RS, robotics and our Knapp OSR shuttle solution, you’ll ensure the technology underpinning our operation delivers the reliability and performance our teams need.

  • Lead the site’s engineering and automation function, acting as the technical escalation point for complex faults and partnering closely with Knapp, OEMs and other service providers.
  • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs through our CMMS, using performance data and failure trends to maximise system uptime and throughput.
  • Oversee broader site maintenance and facilities requirements, ensuring building, equipment and statutory compliance obligations are met.
  • Track and act on key engineering performance metrics, including MTBF and MTTR, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, remove bottlenecks and optimise automation performance.
  • Champion a safety-first culture while partnering with Distribution Centre and Supply Chain leaders to drive continuous improvement across the operation.

What You Will Bring:

  • A trade or tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in an engineering or maintenance leadership role within an automated warehouse, Distribution Centre or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of automated material handling systems such as conveyors, sortation, AS/RS and robotics; experience with Knapp or comparable OSR shuttle technology will be highly regarded.
  • Experience using a CMMS to drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs, alongside a strong understanding of engineering performance measures such as MTBF and MTTR.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to remain calm and methodical during equipment downtime and critical faults.

You’re an experienced engineering or maintenance leader who combines strong technical expertise with a calm, practical approach to problem solving. You’re comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment, know how to get to the heart of complex equipment issues and can build strong relationships across operational teams, technical partners and suppliers.

  • Reward and recognition programs
  • Access to bonus and incentive programs

There are also so many other ways in which you’ll be made to feel part of the MECCA story, as we love to celebrate, surprise and delight our team along the way.
