About The Project


John Holland is delivering the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade (B2N) on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast – a major rail infrastructure program designed to increase capacity, improve reliability and support the region’s long-term growth.
This complex, multi‑disciplinary project includes significant signalling, rail systems and interface works delivered in a live rail environment, requiring close collaboration with Queensland Rail, designers, certifiers and delivery partners.
Based between Beerburrum and the Glass House Mountains, the project offers exposure to a large-scale rail upgrade with meaningful technical and career development opportunities.

About The Role


We are seeking a Site Engineer – Signalling to support the delivery of signalling works across the project.
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer – Signalling, you will play a key role in coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly and to program. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career signalling engineer to deepen their site experience on a major rail project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate onsite and offsite signalling activities to achieve safety, quality and programme outcomes
  • Support short‑ and mid‑term planning, sequencing and resource allocation of signalling worksSupervise subcontractors and external labour to ensure performance against scope, budget and schedule
  • Ensure works comply with design documentation, industry standards, ITPs and QA/QC requirements
  • Manage permits, access requirements, SWMS, AMS and network protection activities
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including drawings, registers, reports and non‑conformance tracking
  • Assist with procurement, cost tracking, progress reporting and assessment of variations and claims
  • Coordinate signalling interfaces with civil, track, electrical, overheads and telecommunications teams
  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership and contribute to a positive, high‑performance site culture

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical or Civil considered)
  • Minimum 2 years’ post‑graduate engineering experience, ideally within rail signalling delivery
  • Site‑based experience on infrastructure or rail projects
  • Working knowledge of Australian rail signalling systems and standards
  • RIW eligibility (Signal Constructor L1) and willingness to maintain a signalling experience logbook
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder coordination skills
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities in a live environment
