Job Description

A major transport infrastructure project (valued at more than $1 billion) is underway across South East Queensland, delivering complex rail, station and civil works in both brownfield and greenfield environments. The head contractor is seeking a Site Engineer to support the safe and efficient delivery of brownfield construction works in and around operational transport assets. You'll translate design requirements into executable site activities, coordinate resources and permits, and maintain the records needed to demonstrate compliance in a live-asset environment.

Indigenous Business Growth (IBG) is a majority Indigenous owned recruitment business registered with Supply Nation, specialising in civil engineering, infrastructure, construction and major project recruitment. We partner closely with contractors, engineering consultancies and delivery organisations to place high quality technical professionals. Our approach is relationship led and commercially grounded, built on practical industry experience and a clear understanding of how complex projects are delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan assigned work fronts in detail, including methodology, staging, access, temporary works, labour, plant, materials, permits and inspection requirements
  • Prepare and maintain work packs, inspection and test documentation, lift plans, permits and completion evidence
  • Review drawings, specifications and design models; identify constructability issues and raise RFIs before work is affected
  • Coordinate daily activities with supervisors and subcontractors to prevent clashes and maximise productive use of constrained access windows
  • Support planning for rail possessions, isolations and operational interfaces
  • Monitor productivity, quantities and material consumption; provide reliable inputs to forecasts
  • Undertake field inspections and close out defects in conjunction with quality personnel
  • Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks and safety observations
  • Maintain accurate site diaries, photos, delivery records and as-built information
  • Build constructive relationships with frontline crews while maintaining clear engineering standards

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical or construction engineering
  • 2-5 years' site engineering experience on rail, transport, civil or major building projects
  • Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, specifications and construction programs
  • Experience with permits, ITPs, work packs, RFIs and subcontractor coordination
  • Brownfield or live-operating-environment experience highly regarded
  • Current construction induction card and valid driver's licence
  • Ability to obtain rail corridor competencies and work occasional nights, weekends and possessions
  • Field engineering, survey and dimensional control expertise
  • Clear technical writing and confident communication skills
  • Practical, calm and methodical approach to high-tempo environments
