The Company
At Imerys, we transform minerals into high-performance solutions that power essential industries. Safety, sustainability and operational excellence are fundamental to everything we do.
We are seeking a forward-thinking engineering leader to take ownership of maintenance and engineering performance at our HK3 processing facility in Lee Moor.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership position, managing a team of six skilled engineers within a specialist milling and secondary processing environment.
Reporting to the HK3 Plant Manager and working closely with the Secondary Processing Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will lead the engineering function on site — setting standards, driving reliability, managing budgets and delivering continuous improvement.
This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility within reason to suit operational demands and leadership responsibilities. There is no shift pattern attached to this role.
You will be equally comfortable:
Leading, motivating and developing your team
Managing maintenance strategy, KPIs and performance
Owning SAP CMMS processes and maintenance planning
Stepping onto the tools when required to support your engineers
This is a role for someone who thrives on challenge, accountability and variety — where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of six engineers, fostering engagement, accountability and high performance
Build a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all HSE and environmental standards
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across kiln, milling and associated process plant
Maximise plant reliability and OEE
Manage the site maintenance budget and control expenditure
Oversee site stores and critical spares management
Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with ISO standards and structured maintenance systems
Support capital projects, plant upgrades and refurbishment activities
Collaborate closely with operations, quality, safety and procurement teams
About You
You are a confident engineering manager who leads from the front.
You bring experience from a manufacturing, minerals or milling environment, with strong technical capability and excellent organisational discipline.
You will have:
Proven experience leading engineering maintenance teams
Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
Experience within heavy industrial or processing environments
Strong SAP / CMMS knowledge and robust back-office management skills
Budget and cost control experience
Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
Knowledge of ISO standards and structured compliance systems
Most importantly, you build strong relationships. You create trust, set high standards and are willing to step in when needed to support your team.
