Job Title: Site Cost Controller

The Site Cost Controller will be responsible for monitoring, analysing, and reporting project costs to ensure delivery within approved budgets. This role plays a key part in financial governance across the NZT Power project, supporting accurate forecasting, cost control, and decision-making in a complex EPC environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management & Reporting
Monitor and control project expenditures against the approved budget and cost baseline
Prepare and maintain cost reports, track commitments, accruals, and actuals; maintain cost registers and cashflow curves
Produce monthly cost reports for internal stakeholders and client reporting
Analyse cost variances and provide explanations and mitigation recommendations
Preparation of monthly and weekly site resource reports and staffing forecasts
Forecasting & Planning
Develop and update cost forecasts (Estimate at Completion – EAC)
Support budgeting and reforecasting processes across project phases
Collaborate with discipline leads to validate planned vs. actual costs
Identify trends and proactively highlight cost risks and opportunities
Project Controls Integration
Support integration of cost control with scheduling and progress measurement
Work closely with Planning Engineers to align cost and schedule performance (earned value where applicable)
Assist in maintaining cost breakdown structures (CBS) and alignment with WBS
Commitment & Procurement Tracking
Track commitments including purchase orders, subcontracts, and variations
Validate invoices against contract terms and progress achieved
Liaise with procurement and contract teams to ensure cost accuracy
Change Management
Support the management of change events and variations
Assess cost impacts of changes and update forecasts accordingly
Maintain change logs in coordination with project controls and commercial teams
Stakeholder Collaboration
Interface with project management, engineering, procurement, and finance teams
Support audits and ensure compliance with company procedures and project requirements
Provide ad-hoc cost analysis to support decision-making
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
Proven experience in cost control within large-scale EPC / energy / infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of cost management principles and project controls methodologies
Experience working on complex, multi-discipline projects (ideally energy transition, gas, power, or CCS)
Advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with cost control software/tools
Excellent analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail
Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
Desirable
Experience working on carbon capture, power generation, or decarbonisation projects
Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM)
Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems
Understanding of UK project delivery environment and regulatory context
