Job Description

Methode is seeking a Site Controller for its Hamsar plant in Burlington, Ontario. The Site Controller is an operational and growth-oriented partner that supports Group leadership at the location. This role acts as a trusted partner to the plant’s operational leadership and division finance team. The Site Controller must be operational and strategic minded serving as a thought partner across various functional aspects of the business.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all aspects of financial reporting and control environment by ensuring compliance with Methode financial policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Analyses monthly results. Updates forecasts monthly.
  • Develops and is responsible for the unit’s budgeting process
  • Develops processes to analyze manufacturing operations, guiding operational leadership to areas of opportunities to drive profitable growth and inventory improvements
  • Monitors cost variances and facilitates root cause/corrective action process within the site
  • Develops accurate and reliable standard costs to assist quoting of new business | sets accurate benchmark for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Monitors inventory values, obsolescence calculation and stock counting
  • Partners with quoting and sales team to deliver on new business quoting opportunities
  • Ensures leaders have timely data and reporting needed to measure performance and the effectiveness and impact of improvement initiatives, and the analysis needed to understand and address gaps
  • Partners with Methode’s financial shared service center to assure smooth month-end close and accounting activities
  • Works to achieve budget objectives by interpreting/reporting financial data, analyzes variances, initiates corrective actions. Ensures a culture of integrity, transparency, and compliance with all relevant financial and accounting standards as well as all applicable laws, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external audit teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accountancy, finance or business required
  • CPA/CMA highly preferred
  • Must have 5+ years of progressive finance experience in a manufacturing environment as Plant Controller or Accounting Manager
  • High energy, accountable and agile
  • Strong cost accounting and analytical skills
  • Lean | Process improvement experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in implementing and managing rigorous, disciplined financial controls, financial management systems, and enterprise performance measures
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing (ERP) systems required
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) is a plus
  • Tech-savvy individual with proficiency in Excel and enterprise performance management systems
