Job Description

Role Summary

The Site Acquisition Manager is responsible for identifying, securing, and progressing strategic locations for the deployment of BYD’s Flash Charging network within Sweden and Denmark, with a primary focus on greenfield site development and the acquisition or retrofit of existing EV charging locations.

The role owns the end-to-end local site acquisition process, from market scouting and feasibility assessment through commercial alignment, permitting coordination, and readiness for deployment. This includes identifying high-potential standalone sites, mobility hubs, retail destinations, highway corridors, and existing charging stations that can be upgraded or converted to BYD Flash Charging standards.

The Site Acquisition Manager acts as the primary local interface with landowners, property developers, utilities, municipalities, infrastructure owners, and existing charging site operators where retrofit opportunities exist. The role ensures that acquired sites are scalable, strategically positioned, and aligned with BYD’s long-term network expansion objectives.

The role works in close coordination with the Legal & Commercial team, which provides contractual frameworks, negotiation support, and commercial governance. While the Legal & Commercial team owns contract structure, pricing guardrails, and risk management, the Site Acquisition Manager owns local execution, stakeholder management, and deal progression.

A strong understanding of EV charging infrastructure, grid constraints, site redevelopment, and operational scalability is essential to avoid long-term limitations on construction, operations, or future expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Identification & Pipeline Development

Identify and proactively source suitable locations for Flash Charging deployment, including:

· Highway and transit corridors

· Greenfield infrastructure opportunities

· Retail and commercial destinations

· Urban and mixed-use developments

· Public and semi-public land

· Existing EV charging stations suitable for retrofit, upgrade, acquisition, or long-term lease

· Build and maintain a robust local pipeline of strategic sites aligned with BYD’s long-term network rollout priorities.

Actively identify opportunities to:

· Acquire existing charging locations

· Retrofit underperforming charging infrastructure

· Upgrade legacy fast charging sites into Flash Charging hubs

· Consolidate strategic charging positions in key mobility corridors

Conduct initial site screening covering:

· Accessibility and traffic flow

· Site footprint and future scalability

· Grid availability and upgrade complexity

· Permitting risks

· Construction feasibility

· Long-term operational suitability

· Coordinate early feasibility checks with Deployment, Energy, Product, and Technical teams to eliminate non-viable opportunities early in the process.

2. Strategic Site Acquisition & Retrofit Projects

Lead the identification and progression of strategic site acquisition opportunities, including:

· Greenfield developments

· Long-term land lease agreements

· Acquisition of existing charging station locations

· Retrofit and modernization opportunities for legacy EV charging infrastructure

Evaluate existing charging locations for:

· Grid capacity suitability

· Expansion potential

· Accessibility and traffic performance

· Operational limitations

· Redevelopment feasibility into Flash Charging hubs

· Coordinate technical and commercial assessments required to support investment decisions and site prioritization.

· Work closely with internal stakeholders to structure scalable deployment opportunities that align with BYD’s long-term ownership and operational strategy.

· Escalate complex commercial structures, acquisition risks, or multi-party negotiations to the Legal & Commercial team where required.

3. Local Stakeholder Management

Act as the primary local interface with:

· Landowners and site hosts

· Commercial real estate owners and developers

· Existing charging site operators

· Municipalities and public authorities

· Utilities and grid operators

· Infrastructure and mobility partners

· Build trusted relationships to facilitate site acquisition, permitting, redevelopment, and long-term cooperation.

· Represent BYD’s long-term infrastructure investment strategy and network vision to external stakeholders and authorities.

4. Commercial Coordination & Deal Progression

Lead local commercial discussions within predefined pricing and commercial guardrails, including those involving CPOs.

Prepare site-specific proposals, summaries, and internal approval packages.

Work closely with the Legal & Commercial team to:

· Apply standard contract templates

· Escalate deviations and risks

· Support complex or multi-party negotiations

· Ensure all commercial terms remain aligned with approved frameworks before contract finalization.

5. Permitting & Pre-Deployment Readiness

· Coordinate permitting processes and local approvals in collaboration with authorities, consultants, and CPO partners where applicable.

· Identify and mitigate permitting, access, or zoning risks early.

· Ensure sites are contractually and practically ready for handover to the Deployment team.

· Act as the local owner of site readiness until Notice-to-Proceed.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

Act as the bridge between local stakeholders and internal teams including:

· Site Acquisition & Partnerships

· Deployment

· Service & Maintenance

· Finance and Legal

· CPO commercial and operational teams

· Ensure that site-specific constraints, commitments, and risks are clearly communicated and documented.

· Support smooth transition from acquisition to deployment without contractual or operational blockers.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required

· 5+ years of experience in site acquisition, real estate development, infrastructure expansion, or EV charging deployment

· Strong experience in greenfield infrastructure development and/or acquisition of operational infrastructure assets

· Experience evaluating or developing EV charging sites is strongly preferred

· Proven experience negotiating with landowners, municipalities, utilities, infrastructure owners, or commercial real estate stakeholders

· Understanding of permitting processes, grid connection constraints, and infrastructure redevelopment

· Commercially minded, with the ability to balance rapid expansion and long-term asset value

· Comfortable operating within standardized commercial and contractual frameworks

· Ability to operate autonomously within a fast-moving matrix organization

· Fluency in English and Swedish and/or Danish

· Willingness to travel within the assigned country or cluster

We Offer

  • Competitive remuneration based on performance and experience.
