As part of the Technical Services department within CAE’s Civil Training and Services division, you will perform all preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on several CAE and non-CAE flight simulators and associated devices at the CAE Training Center.

Description

The Simulator Technician II performs complex technical tasks related to the maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and support of simulator systems. This role is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance activities performed in the office, on-site, and in the field, and may support design, refurbishment, and hardware modification projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting issues affecting simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve routine simulator and simulator system issues.
  • Utilize the maintenance management system to document and track maintenance activities.
  • Train technicians on fundamental technical skills and procedures.
  • Complete all assigned training activities.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and technical training.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight procedures on simulators.
  • Perform visual alignments and adjustments.
  • Run, analyze, and evaluate Qualification Test Guide (QTG) results.
  • Assist with simulator refurbishment projects and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with the CAE Quality Management System.
  • Provide customer support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform logistics-related activities, including receiving parts, coordinating repairs, and testing/validating equipment.
  • Maintain simulator cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  • Complete administrative tasks as required.
  • Provide support to the Technical Services team as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree (2-year technical degree) or equivalent technical training in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct simulator experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of simulator experience relevant to the assigned location.
  • Ability to troubleshoot simulator systems to the system level across multiple simulator types.
  • Proficiency in the use of various test equipment.
  • Ability to utilize and interpret diagnostic tools across multiple simulator types.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance, pre-flight checks, and post-flight checks on simulators within the fleet.
  • Ability to perform visual adjustments and system setups on at least one type of visual system.
  • Ability to assist with refurbishment projects and hardware modifications.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple simulator platforms or fleets.
  • Experience participating in refurbishment, upgrade, or modification projects.
  • Experience training or mentoring technical team members.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and quality management processes.
