Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Technician will work under the Associate Director of Training for SOA Flight Simulation while performing the general maintenance of the flight training devices in accordance with Regulatory Authority requirements and company standards. Full-time position supporting operations occurring Monday through Friday from the hours of 0600-2300.
Supervisory responsibilities include that of Simulator Student Worker employees.
Four-year college degree or technical school with a concentration in any of the following: aeronautics, technology, computer science, computer programing, or engineering; or a combination of three (3) or more years education and experience, including experience in a maintenance role, civilian/military electronics/avionics, or related technical or maintenance experience. Well-developed communications skills. Must hold at least a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment also includes facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
