The Simulation Centers prepare health care learners for clinical practice by building their competence and confidence through participation in realistic experiences. The centers create a wide variety of situations, which translate into better care for patients when students graduate and enter their chosen field.
The Simulation Technician will be responsible for duties such as:
1. Offering technical assistance for simulations designed for nursing, paramedic, health sciences, and other various programs. This will require the technician to recall prior acute care experience and utilize lab checklist to create realistic scenarios for students.
2. Delivery of high-fidelity scenarios using multiple technological platforms to provide students with life-like learning experiences in a safe simulated environment, this includes working with robotic mannequins to provide vocal, audio and visual cues that are appropriate for the scenario.
3. Preparation and disassembly of simulation equipment, encompassing both technical setup and physical arrangements: assembling mannikins or task trainers, preparing the simulation environment (beds, supplies, patient charts), ensuring correct props, etc…
4. Partnering with faculty to input event scenarios’ data and maintain data integrity.
5. Assist with faculty and learning technology experts to create and explore virtual simulation requirements and possibilities.
6. Working alongside the Simulation Learning Centre Coordinator and Simulation Assistants to manage assets, oversee maintenance and repairs, and support procurement of supplies and equipment.
7. Contribute as part of the Simulation Learning Centre team to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvements
