This is an exciting time as the Centre expands to new AKU campuses in Nairobi and Kampala. Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Simulation Specialist in the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • monitoring and ensuring simulation and education-based technologies are maintained

  • assessing and resolving equipment failures

  • collaborating / participating in the design and implementation of the simulation scenarios

  • developing and ensuring the compliance of policies in relation to simulation.

  • contributing to research activity with in CIME to improve the technical functions of the Centre

  • collaborating with local and international vendors for troubleshooting and repair of simulation equipment

  • identifying performance opportunities or training needs for technical staff as it relates to simulation

  • providing training to improve performance in the use of clinical simulation.

  • supporting clinical educators with orientation to principles of simulation training technology and configuration.

  • supporting in selecting appropriate modality of simulation to meet learning objectives and which is most appropriate to selected learners

  • making recommendations for the purchase of equipment, supplies and materials required for simulation

  • maintaining quality control for the processes at the Centre and provides feedback for improvement

  • leading in aspect of annual budget planning

  • contributing to the strategic planning of the Centre in relation to the mission statement.

Requirments

You should have:

  • a minimum of Master’s Degree in Engineering or Science or Healthcare Simulation
  • a CHSOS Certification or equivalent will be desirable
  • at least a minimum of five years’ experience in professional role in similar capacity or a minimum of three years of Clinical Simulation experience id desirable
  • be able to operate and troubleshoot simulators
  • knowledge of the operating systems such as Windows, MAC, Linux, and related troubleshooting skills related to it
  • knowledge of developing budget and policies
  • be proficient in knowledge related to IT or Biomedical Technologies
  • familiarity of operating and troubleshooting Audio-Visual Systems. (Desirable)
  • ability to work as a team player and individually
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • demonstrated understanding of equipment maintenance, life cycle and repair
  • competence at Specialist level in 16 identified clinical simulation competencies at CIME.
