Job Description

JT4 will be hiring an Engineer V who serves as a principal investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects.

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

An Engineer V serves as a principal investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects.

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:

  • Develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and difficult system design requirements and problems
  • Conduct investigations of considerable complexity
  • Provide technical consultation to other organizations or customers
  • Direct interface with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design
  • Act as liaison for test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects requiring the expert application of advanced knowledge
  • Review completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements and recommend corrections in technical application and analysis to management
  • Represent the company as technical advisor in high-level meetings and briefings with company and customer personnel
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Act as a company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems
  • Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Provides engineering support for test planning working groups, design reviews and any other related testing activities.
  • Assists the software development team in developing and integrating an advanced synthetic test and training environment to support military test, tactics development, and training. Apply tactical knowledge to support scenario development for customer training objectives, and test events.
  • Supports development of customer test plans and test cards in support of run-for-score test events.
  • Supports daily communications with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) customers, subject matter experts, JSE development team representatives, and supporting sub-contractors.
  • Configures the battlespace, recommends post-test reconfigurations, and prepares the virtual environment with customer defined threat laydowns.
  • Conduct general subject matter research, analysis, correlation, and assessment.
  • Instructs, mentors, and demonstrates to fellow pilots and engineers the operation of 5th generation aircraft sensor systems, communication and navigation systems, and pilot-vehicle interface (PVI).
  • Acts as technical liaison to outside organizations in the fifth-gen operational community.
  • Provides simulated adversary pilot support for the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) as required.
  • Provides inputs for the Digital Test & Training Range (DTTR) expansion or capability improvements to better support fifth-generation tactics development and test.

REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 14 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum of eight years of related engineering experience are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer V must possess the following qualifications:

  • Well-established, substantial, professional reputation in one or more of the principal technical disciplines of the company
  • Demonstrated ability to direct senior technical personnel in project assignments involving research, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems or processes
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals
  • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines
  • The candidate must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

SALARY: The expected pay range for this position is $150,000 to $185,000 annually

The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4 LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
