
Simulation Coordinator
Reports to: Simulation Lab Coordinator
The Simulation Coordinator is responsible for working with nursing faculty for achieving student learning outcomes to the integration and evaluation of simulation and clinical skills protocols within the nursing curriculum, utilizing college/institute-approved methodologies and cases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Using Education Affiliates (EA) approved simulation cases and teaching protocols, implements and evaluates student learning in collaboration with nursing faculty.
· Provides orientation to simulation lab to nursing faculty, nursing students, staff and others as needed.
· Maintains written policy and procedure for use of simulation lab including protocols for all simulated learning activities.
· Schedules and coordinates simulated learning activities for nursing and interdepartmental simulations involving the nursing department.
· Maintains contact with the EA Simulation Council and Director of Simulation to remain current in utilizing simulated learning experiences.
· Orders equipment and supplies needed for the operation of the simulation lab.
· Establishes schedule to manage day/and evening simulation labs.
· Maintains accurate, complete and timely records of student participation for all simulation lab practicum.
· Participates in faculty meetings, attending graduation ceremonies and other school activities, faculty recognition programs, staff development offerings, in-services programs and task forces/committees as needed or assigned.
· Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education including maintaining professional Standard of Healthcare Simulation Certification.
· Serves as Chair of the campus Simulation Committee.
· Provides input for budget preparation regarding equipment, supplies and materials for simulation lab.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
· Registered Nurse with current unencumbered license
· Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing degree
· Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience
· Recent classroom and clinical experience in nursing education
· Good communication skills, written and oral
· Educational skills ability work with diverse student population
· Completed EA simulation training or similar orientation
· Need to understand and do basic troubleshooting of simulation equipment including camera system, software and basic external parts of the simulator mannequin.
Classification: Non-Exempt
Work Hours: May vary daily, and evening and weekend hours may be required, depending on the staffing needs of the school’s simulation lab.
