Simulated Participant - PRN - Clinical Skills Assessment CenterA "Simulated Participant" (SP) is a person who has been carefully trained to portray all of the characteristics of a real patient, family member, or clinical team member in order to provide an opportunity for a student or provider to learn, or be evaluated, on clinical skills first hand. SPs portray cases, which are based on actual encounters by healthcare providers. Simulated Participants are utilized in the training and evaluation of health care professionals and are trained to simulate the signs and symptoms of the actual patient. SP’s are often physically examined by learners as part of the learning environment. SPs are carefully trained to provide feedback to the learners, especially with regard to communication and interpersonal skills. Simulated Participants are interviewed and examined by health care learners and may be audio or videotaped during simulation.
