Job Summary:

Responsible for supporting the Company’s corporate accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and financial analysis functions across a complex, multi-entity organization. Partners with corporate and regional finance teams to promote accuracy, consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement while developing the technical, analytical, and leadership capabilities required for future higher-level controller responsibilities.

This position is ideal for someone located in Southeast Wyoming or Northern Colorado. The role is primarily office-based in Cheyenne and Longmont, while offering occasional remote work flexibility when appropriate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Assist with corporate accounting, consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other key finance activities to support accurate and timely enterprise reporting
  • Analyze financial data related to cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and operating performance; support cash management strategies aligned with operational and growth objectives
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analyses
  • Coordinate and consolidate financial information from regional accounting teams to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy in corporate and enterprise reporting
  • Support budget and forecast processes by gathering and validating data, identifying trends, preparing financial summaries, and communicating insights for leadership review
  • Assist in maintaining, strengthening, and documenting internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance practices to promote financial accuracy, integrity, and accountability
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit activities, including audit preparation, documentation requests, internal audit support, and follow-up on identified items
  • Support sales/use tax compliance by reviewing transactions, assisting with reporting and filings, researching tax-related questions, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external advisors on corporate tax matters
  • Perform accounting activities related to fixed assets, leases, and capital expenditures, including transaction recording, schedule maintenance, reconciliations, reporting support, and compliance with applicable accounting standards

Main Responsibilities (continued):

  • Identify and help implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and efficiency enhancements within corporate accounting and finance functions
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, management reporting, and decision-support materials for executive leadership and strategic business initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial objectives, accounting practices, and reporting outcomes with operational and organizational goals
  • May supervise assigned accounting staff based on operational needs, including daily oversight, coaching, performance support, and professional development; demonstrate leadership readiness for future Controller-level responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to accounting staff to promote consistency, professional growth, and adherence to corporate standards
  • Perform other related accounting, reporting, compliance, leadership, and administrative duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • CPA, CMA, or CFM certification preferred

Skills:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including financial reporting, corporate accounting, close processes, reconciliations, analysis, or accounting support within a complex or multi-entity organization
  • Demonstrated leadership aptitude with the ability to guide, influence, and develop others; prior direct people management experience is not required, but the role is intended to build readiness for future Controller-level leadership responsibilities
  • Experience in construction accounting or a similar project-based, operational, or multi-location environment preferred
  • Experience with sales/use tax compliance, reporting, and related accounting processes; basic understanding of corporate tax concepts preferred
  • Experience accounting for fixed assets, leases, and capital expenditures, including reconciliations, supporting schedules, reporting, and compliance with applicable accounting standards
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and communicate meaningful insights in a complex, multi-entity business environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizational, functional, and geographic boundaries
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial information effectively
  • Experience with enterprise accounting systems; JD Edwards experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Wears and maintains required personal protective equipment to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required when visiting job sites
  • Regularly communicate (talk and hear) to support safe coordination, instruction, and teamwork in the work environment
  • Regularly required to perform tasks that require visual acuity to review information and ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance in work performed
  • Regularly sits for long periods at a desk using a computer to perform administrative, planning, and reporting responsibilities
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, and use a keyboard and/or mobile device to complete daily administrative and communication tasks
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 35 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the role
  • May occasionally be exposed to environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions when visiting job sites
  • Some work may be performed remotely; in-person work is required as needed to support team engagement, collaboration, training, operational alignment, and business needs
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $110,000.00-$135,000.00 DOE

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
