Summary: Providing outstanding Guest Service by serving as a Specialty ‘Branded’ Performer, (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Clarice and Bumble the Abominable Snowman) and/or as a ‘branded’ elf-handler for these characters.

This is a Seasonal position with from 10/24/2026 - 1/02/2027.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be available 1:00-9:00 PM on all operational days during An Old Time Christmas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned specific to Christmas Parade or Rudolph’s Christmas Town.

  • Act as an ambassador of goodwill on behalf of the E&E Division.
  • Create an extraordinary and memorable experience ‘ in character’ for our guests while maintaining performer safety
  • Work in harmony with other performers and handlers in Specialty Costume positions
  • Participate in Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade
  • Work with E & E / Parade Leadership to ensure a safe, healthy and happy working environment
  • Provide outstanding customer service while interacting with guests to ensure safe, fast and friendly service
  • Respond to guest inquiries in a friendly, non-offensive manner without deviating from safety procedures
  • Assist with the movement of costumes from dressing area to parade area (as needed)
  • Perform in a Specialty Character role for special events (as needed)
  • Be mindful of time in and out of costume to ensure performer safety

Costume Requirements:

  • Our costumes are pre-fabricated with specific sizing requirements. For this particular role, the costume will require individuals be between 5'0" and 5'3".

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be between 5'0" and 5'3" in height to meet costume sizing specifications.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to several hours per shift.
  • Must have the ability to move in an enclosed, padded costume with limited visibility and ventilation.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive movements such as waving, gesturing, and light dancing while in character.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport costume elements and accessories as needed.
  • Must have the physical endurance to tolerate heat while wearing an insulated costume for extended periods.
  • Must be able to maintain balance, spatial awareness, and physical coordination while interacting with guests and walking in parades.
  • Must be able to safely enter and exit character costumes with limited assistance.

Work Environment:

This role takes place primarily outdoors and in parade staging areas, with frequent transitions between indoor and outdoor settings. Employees must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions including cold, wind, and occasional precipitation, especially during evening hours. The work environment is fast-paced and guest-facing, requiring high levels of energy, positive demeanor, and strong team collaboration. Costumes may restrict vision, hearing, and mobility, and performers must remain in character throughout interactions with guests. Parade participation includes walking and performing along a route with large crowds, bright lights, and amplified music, all while maintaining safety and show quality.
