Job Description

The Silicon Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible for supplier manufacturing quality, technical execution, production continuity, and risk management across semiconductor, OSAT, packaging/test, and microelectronics suppliers.

The role requires strong technical expertise in semiconductor manufacturing, supplier quality, failure analysis, yield management, reliability, and factory qualification. The engineer will work closely with suppliers, internal engineering teams, and manufacturing organizations to ensure production readiness and ongoing supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier quality and manufacturing readiness across semiconductor, OSAT, packaging/test, and microelectronics suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier Quality Management System (QMS) and technical audits based on applicable industry and internal quality standards.
  • Assess supplier risks using frameworks such as NUDD (New, Unique, Different, Difficult).
  • Define entry and exit criteria for milestone gate reviews and production qualifications.
  • Lead safe-launch and production line qualification activities.
  • Ensure factory readiness before mass production, including Spec Compliance Matrix, OQC/IQC, First Article Inspection (FAI), and parts traceability.
  • Establish and drive P0/P1 failure analysis processes.
  • Lead defect triage, escaped failure investigation, containment, and corrective action.
  • Manage end-to-end failure analysis logistics, including sample tracking and FA matrix dashboards.
  • Drive deep-dive failure analysis with suppliers and laboratory partners.
  • Monitor daily manufacturing yield and parametric data.
  • Analyze yield trends and perform root-cause correlation to improve supplier performance.
  • Manage VLRR, DPPM, and other supplier quality metrics.
  • Lead onsite sorting, disposition, rework, and containment activities for manufacturing defects.
  • Respond rapidly to line-down quality alerts and production disruptions.
  • Conduct hands-on supplier onsite audits to verify process controls, quality systems, and factory readiness.
  • Perform raw data collection, data cleaning, and preliminary analysis for quality and yield reporting.
  • Drive component qualification milestones through production readiness.
  • Manage Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT).
  • Track and manage Process Change Notifications (PCN) and End-of-Life (EOL) activities.
  • Support supply continuity and proactively mitigate component manufacturing or supply risks.
  • 7+ years of experience in semiconductor, OSAT, packaging/test, or microelectronics manufacturing.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in semiconductor, OSAT, packaging/test, or microelectronics manufacturing.
  • Strong experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Supplier Development Engineering, semiconductor manufacturing quality, or related functions.
  • Experience conducting supplier QMS audits, including ISO 9000-based quality systems.
  • Experience with semiconductor or component qualification, manufacturing line qualification, and production readiness.
  • Strong knowledge of failure analysis, defect containment, corrective action, and root cause investigation.
  • Experience with manufacturing yield, parametric data analysis, VLRR, and DPPM metrics.
  • Strong statistical analysis and data mining capabilities.
  • Experience with IQC, OQC, FAI, parts traceability, and supplier quality controls.
  • Experience managing semiconductor reliability testing, PCN, and EOL activities.
  • Experience conducting hands-on supplier onsite audits.
  • Strong supplier management, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite with suppliers and manufacturing partners when required.
