Our Regional Assets division plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Queensland’s rail network, keeping it dependable for the people of our state.

Our well-established maintenance team based in Cairns are currently seeking a Signal Electrician to join their team on a permanent full-time basis.

Working out of our Portsmith depot, these roles are part of our dedicated Wayside Systems team, which includes experts in Signalling and Telecommunications. The team are responsible for servicing the North Coast and Tablelands lines, spanning from Cardwell to Mareeba. In addition to planned preventative maintenance the team also perform signalling upgrades and corrective works.

As a Signal Electrician you will carry out the installation, maintenance, and repair of signalling equipment as well as report on the performance and condition of signalling assets. You will play a key role in achieving our vision of delivering world-class rail services for our customers by ensuring the safety and reliability of our assets and services.

Purpose that counts. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Install, maintain, repair and adjust electrical signalling equipment.
  • Undertake scheduled maintenance activities on signalling equipment.
  • Attend signalling failures to analyse, repair and report on cause of failures.
  • Maintain records and documentation relating to signal maintenance and costing systems.
  • Report on actual work performed against the scheduled work program and report any equipment irregularities.
  • Work predominately between the hours of 0715 to 1615 on a 9-day fortnight

We are looking to connect with someone who has

  • Certificate IV Railway Signalling
  • A current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
  • A Current Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence or interstate equivalent that can be changed over prior to starting
  • Experience in the installation, maintenance and fault rectification of signalling equipment
  • Capacity to travel and work within regional Queensland
