The Sign Shop is an in-house sign manufacturing unit which provides high quality traffic signs to all Department of Transportation field operations in compliance with both state and national standards, and to provide the public with safe and informative traveling routes. The work unit serves internal Maintenance Sections, Public Relation and Traffic units with new traffic signs. The unit processes raw material stock and retro-reflective material into highway traffic signs; orders, manufactures and prepares orders for pick-up. The sign shop is part of the small set of self-generating revenue cost centers in the Department in which the revenues should match expenditures on material, equipment and labor.
The Sign Fabricator position follows established guidelines, processes and procedures to fabricate quality signs as requested by the various maintenance/ Engineering sections. This includes standard road signs as well as to fabricate signs for emergencies and special situations or projects. These positions will learn how to properly operate and maintain shop equipment and tools as well as train on how to layout and adhere sheeting/decals to fleet vehicles.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Completion of non-correspondence vocational training in sheet metal work from an accredited vocational school also is desirable.

The exceptional applicant will be an experienced sheet metal worker/sign fabricator and will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following:
