Job Description

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

  • We are seeking a Supplier Industrial Engineer
    based in Ho Chi Minh City This role requires regular travel to sub-suppliers across Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang, with occasional travel to mainland China as needed.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong Mechanical Engineering background, with hands-on experience in metalworking and plastic injection molding. This should be a senior-level professional who can work independently and does not require extensive supervision from management.
  • Preferred experience includes manufacturing processes such as aluminum extrusion, aluminum and steel welding, metal stamping and forming, as well as plastic injection molding.
  • Lead qualification and ongoing support for metalworking suppliers across Vietnam, including assessment of production control and quality programs; identify gaps and secure commitments to correct.
  • Support supplier identification, RFQ, selection, and transitions — including tooling migration, knowledge transfer, capability replication, and dual-sourcing strategies to maintain supply continuity.
  • Benchmark new suppliers against incumbent performance across quality, cost, and cycle time.
  • Establish validation procedures for tooling acceptance into development builds and mass production.
  • Review supplier tool design, process flow, equipment selection, DFM, and DOE proposals.
  • Evaluate mechanical drawings and lead DFM discussions with internal engineers to communicate design intent to suppliers and drive execution follow-through.
  • Develop and implement audit procedures and inspection tools.
  • Evaluate yield performance, lead measurement improvement studies, and drive process capability assessments in alignment with part design documentation.
  • Plan and lead experiments to generate analyses that drive design, development, and supply chain decisions.
  • Identify gaps and corrective actions to ensure design compliance.
  • Assess supplier readiness for build events and production ramp; identify execution risks and provide mitigation recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in English and Vietnamese (written and spoken); Chinese is a plus.
  • Experience managing supplier transitions or resourcing projects, preferably with overseas vendors supporting North America-based customers.
  • Willing and able to travel within Vietnam (HCMC, Da Nang, Hanoi) and internationally as needed.
  • Expertise in metal fabrication including extrusion, welding, stamping, and hydroforming across aluminum, steel, and other base materials.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding tooling and process control.
  • Familiarity with optical and mechanical metrology; GR&R, correlation, stability, and reliability studies.
  • Strong command of GD&T, SPC, process capability (Cpk, Ppk), and MSA.
  • Experience with PPAP/APQP processes.
  • Strong cross-functional communication, data analysis, and project management skills; comfortable operating in large cross-functional team environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter with a customer-first attitude; able to define tasks independently and learn new processes quickly.
