- Project Management Lead and manage the NPI process from ideation through commercialization, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget aligned to 3M GROW process.
- Gate Reviews The leader is responsible for organizing and conducting gate reviews, which are critical checkpoints in the project lifecycle as per GROW process. They ensure that all necessary deliverables are prepared and available for review by the respective business units at these stages.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with R&D, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective execution of the NPI strategy. This also involves aligning the global/area lab and portfolio leaders ahead of time to ensure NPI/CMP projects execution.
- Industry Analysis Conduct research and analysis to identify market and technology trends, customer needs, competitive landscape, and potential opportunities for new products in collaboration with marketing and lab teams.
- Strategy Development Develop and implement commercialization strategies that align with business goals and maximize product success in the market.
- Risk Management Identify potential risks in the NPI process and develop mitigation plans to address them proactively.
- Performance Tracking Monitor and report on the progress of NPI and CMP projects, using key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess success and areas for improvement. All project summary information is documented in the GROW database by the leader. This documentation is crucial for tracking progress, maintaining records, and providing transparency to stakeholders for NPI growth.
- Resource Management The leader requests and secures the necessary cross-functional team (CFT) members to participate in gate reviews for NPI and CMP. This involves coordinating with various departments to ensure that the right expertise is available to assess project progress and make informed decisions leveraging RPM tool.
- Stakeholder Communication Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, providing updates and insights on project status and outcomes.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance Ensure all new products meet regulatory requirements and quality standards before launch.
Qualification:
- Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field, advanced degree preferred.
- Proven 10 plus years of experience in product development, project management, or commercialization roles.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desired Skills:
- Skills include strong problem-solving skills and collaboration across teams, functions and organizations, ability to distill ambiguous needs into clear requirements, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, presentation), experience interacting with 3M’s global matrix
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Experience with product lifecycle management tools and methodologies.
- Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
