Course Title PHY136H5F - Physics for Life and Environmental Sciences I
Course Description A first-year Physics course for students who do not intend to pursue a Physics or an Astronomy program. This course is focused on providing students with conceptual understanding and problem solving skills through the study of physical phenomenon that include: Forces and Newton’s Laws of Motion; Rotational Dynamics; Simple Harmonic Motion and Waves. Examples relevant for life and environmental sciences are emphasized.

Hours of work (est) 63 hours
Class schedule In-person delivery - tutorial and lab in alternate weeks. Tutorial: Friday 3 - 5pm & Lab: Friday 2 - 5pm
Sessional dates of appointment September 2026 – December 2026
SalaryCUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Good communication skills are required as well.Previous TA experience marking assignments, quizzes, tests and/or final exam and working with undergraduate students in Physics laboratory and tutorial setting an asset.
of Duties Duties will include laboratory demonstrations, leading tutorials, marking laboratory reports, and/or quizzes/assignments. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
