As a Shutter Service Technician I, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various types of hurricane shutters and storm protection products. You will work directly with customers to ensure their homes and businesses are safeguarded against severe weather events, particularly hurricanes.
In this role, you will also mentor and guide Shutter Service Technician Helpers and Trainees, supporting their technical development, reinforcing safety practices, and modeling Storm Smart’s quality and service standards.
The ideal candidate is skilled in hands-on repair work, familiar with various tools and machinery, and has experience working with hurricane protection systems, along with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and support the growth of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Perform standard service, maintenance, adjustments, and minor repairs on Storm Smart shutters, impact windows, and doors.
- Complete assigned service calls, punchout work, and warranty tasks with accuracy and professionalism.
- Diagnose common service issues and implement approved repair solutions.
- Mentor and guide Shutter Service Technician Helpers and Trainees, providing hands-on instruction, reinforcing safety practices, and supporting skill development.
- Provide professional, customer-focused service to explain work performed and basic product functionality and consistently represent Storm Smart’s brand, values, and service standards on every job.
- Follow all OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and jobsite procedures.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, work orders, and reports.
- Properly use, maintain, and secure company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Support quality checks and jobsite inspections as assigned.
- Escalate complex technical or customer issues to Service Technician II or Field Supervisor.
- Continue hands-on training to expand product knowledge and technical skills.
- Support team operations and special projects as assigned.
Qualified Shutter Service Technicians are required to ensure that the hardware they are servicing or repairing is kept in good working order and is correctly diagnosed if any problems arise. They should also be able to repair, replace or install our line of products and possess the competence to perform the installation and replacement process.

QualificationsRequired Skills/ Abilities:
- Solid working knowledge of Storm Smart shutter systems and service procedures.
- Ability to safely and independently perform routine service tasks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting fundamentals.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong safety awareness and consistent compliance with jobsite protocols.

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of the Shutter Service Technician Trainee program at Storm Smart.
- Demonstrated proficiency in standard service procedures, safety practices, and product handling.
- Proven ability to complete routine service tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Consistent record of quality workmanship, reliability, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated understanding of Storm Smart products, tools, and service documentation.
- Positive performance evaluations and recommendation for promotion by Field Supervisor/Manager.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting company insurance requirements.
