Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Lancashire to assist with the appointment of a Shunter Driver, on a 1-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £14.73 - £19.36 per hour

Shunt Driver responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Council's Waste Transfer Station and depot. The role involves vehicle shunting, weighbridge operations, waste transfer station activities, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The successful candidate will help maintain safe site operations while supporting waste management services.

Responsibilities:

• Safely shunt and manoeuvre waste collection vehicles, trailers, and plant equipment within the depot and transfer station.
• Position vehicles for loading, unloading, maintenance, and washing activities.
• Operate the weighbridge system and maintain accurate vehicle and waste records.
• Direct vehicles to designated tipping and loading areas.
• Monitor waste loads and identify non-compliant or prohibited materials.

Essentials:

• Valid LGV Driver Qualification Card (DQC)
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification.
• Experience working in a waste management, depot, transport, or operational environment.
• Experience of vehicle shunting or manoeuvring large vehicles safely within a yard or depot.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures in an operational environment.
