Job Description

TITLE: Middle School Show Choir Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Professional licensure and an employee of the Harrison County Board of Education

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools

SALARY: Per Harrison County Board of Education extra-curricular assignment schedule

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  1. Schedule and conduct all rehearsals.
  2. Provide refinement of choral technique, dance technique and expanded repertoire in the area of Show Choir.
  3. Audition, teach and train participants for Show Choir.
  4. Perform publicly outside of home-school environment.
  5. Provide choral music for graduation ceremonies, if such ceremonies are conducted and required.
  6. Maintain records, reports and inventories as may be required and submits requested information by designated time.
  7. Accept advice and suggestions in a constructive manner.
  8. Submit requisitions for purchase of choral music to proper authority within designated budget and designated deadline.
  9. Attend music in-services, workshops, conferences and meetings during the academic school year as required to meet obligations.
  10. Coordinate all activities with the school principal.
  11. Exercise due cautions to the safety of students.
  12. Participate in the West Virginia State Show Choir Festival and other music festivals and/or invitational’s.
  13. Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent or immediate supervisor may, from time to time, assign.
