In Fortune Brands Innovation, Inc. we're seeking a Should Cost Engineer / Die Casting, Stamping, Heath Metal, to join our team in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. This roll be responsible for Should Cost model development and enhancement, detailed cost breakdown reports and VAVE project implementation. The candidate will be acting as SME for all the manufacturing processes required based on the type of components. The should cost engineer will be a trusted source when it comes to component cost and manufacturing process assessment.

The candidate will demonstrate advanced skills in Value Engineering tools, component cost structure and cost management software, i.e aPriori. She/he needs to posses the ability to accurate should cost FBIN assemblies and components. The results of all these analyzes will be extensively used by FBIN teams (sourcing, engineering, manufacturing) to support and enable best cost during supplier negotiations. He/she will be supporting key negotiation activities as required.

The should cost engineer will be addressing product cost out and cost mitigation opportunities during all phases of FBIN product lifecycle i.e. NPI and product development. Perform and guide feasibility studies and technical analysis for implementation of should cost projects.

Effectively report project status, needs and roadblocks to business leaders to ensure completion.

  • Generate and update should cost models for all categories based on current business needs.
  • Utilize deep technical expertise on developing and calibration should cost models based on minimum required manufacturing processes and benchmarking data.
  • Establish relationships and work closely with other areas such as sourcing, design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, etc to ensure assumptions and logics are correctly applied.
  • Design to cost - analyze, assess and and implement cost optimization/avoidance ideas in collaboration with R&D areas.
  • Constantly monitor impact of global commodities to predict deflation/inflation based on cost model material/labor usage.
  • Prepare customized and detailed cost reports
  • Support other CI initiatives owners.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or similar
  • M.S. in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience working on design engineer, production, operations or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of experience with any cost model software tool, specifically with aPriori. Experienced in crating detailed cost models for different manufacturing processes.
  • Strong experience and deep knowledge in manufacturing processes such as machining, forging, castings, plastic injection, sheet metal, aluminum extrusion, packaging, assembly, etc.
  • Strong understanding of component cost structure and finance concepts. Labor rates, machine rates, overheads, rejection %, SG&A and profit.
  • Strong skills in data analysis and management. High level of confidence in using MS excel, Tableau, Power BI.
  • Able to create scorecards and dashboards by using massive and constantly changing data set
