About the role

We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a Shotfirer – Open Cut to join our team. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this role is responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient delivery of bulk explosives services to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

As a Shotfirer – Open Cut, you will work closely with Bench Assistants, MMU Operators, and site teams to manage all tasks associated with loading, tying, and firing blasts, ensuring activities are completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

What you will be doing

  • Safely load, tie, and initiate blasts in accordance with approved blast designs and site procedures.
  • Conduct pre-blast and post-blast activities while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Bench Assistants, MMU Operators, and customer representatives to deliver efficient blasting services.
  • Inspect blasting equipment, accessories, and explosives to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and actively contribute to continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

What you will bring

  • Shotfirer licence or relevant blasting certification required by local legislation.
  • Experience in open cut mining, blasting operations, or explosives handling.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and compliance with procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a dynamic mining environment.
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
