About the role

We are delighted to announce that we are currently seeking applications for an experienced Shotfirer to join one of our large Coal Operations teams in the North Bowen Basin!

In this role, you will assist and provide direction, supervision, and guidance to the Blast Crew in the process of loading, tying, and firing large shots. This role will be Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO), operating mostly on 7 days on/7 days off rosters, and camp facilities will be provided for the duration of the roster.

What you will be doing

  • Providing operational blasting knowledge, direction and advice to Orica’s blast crews and associated stakeholders;
  • Shotfiring duties including magazine management, managing the loading, tying and firing of blasts, following drill and blast designs;
  • Working in tight unison with your teammates to provide excellence in service to our valued customers;
  • You will assisting with the training and mentoring of new team members;
  • At all times acting with integrity and respect.

What you will bring

  • Experience operating as a full shotfirer;
  • Authorised iKon Shotfirer required, or prior experience working with iKon systems;
  • Knowledge of explosives storage regulations and blasting procedures;
  • A QLD Shotfirers Licence;
  • Current HR licence (desirable but not essential);
  • Hold a current QLD Explosives Security Clearance;
  • An impeccable safety record and commitment toward safety.
