The Full-Time Relief Short Line Cook provides dependable coverage across kitchen shifts, including scheduled days off,
absences, catering production and peak periods. This position requires broad availability and the ability to move
confidently between stations and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to approved recipes, portion standards and food-safety requirements. Set up, stock and maintain an organized kitchen station throughout the shift. Prepare vegetables, proteins, sauces, sides and other menu components. Complete opening, closing, cleaning and sanitation duties as assigned. Label, date, store and rotate food using FIFO procedures. Communicate shortages, delays, quality concerns and equipment issues promptly. Support restaurant, takeout, delivery and catering production during busy periods. Work respectfully and cooperatively with kitchen, delivery and front-of-house team members.
Qualifications and Requirements
Previous restaurant, short-order or commercial-kitchen experience is preferred. Broad availability for morning, evening, weekend and occasional early-start shifts. Ability to learn several stations and adapt quickly to changing production needs. Strong food-preparation, organization and safe knife-handling skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Manitoba Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
Working Conditions
This onsite position involves extended standing, frequent bending and reaching, repetitive hand movements, and lifting
and carrying up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to work safely around hot equipment, food products, cleaning
materials and commercial kitchen operations. A three-month probationary period applies.
