Job Description

Position Title: Short Line Cook Reports To: Kitchen Supervisor / Management Employment Status: Full-Time Location: 1364 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB

The Full-Time Morning Short Line Cook prepares menu items and completes early production before and during

restaurant service. This role requires dependable early arrival, efficient station setup and consistent food quality.

Transportation requirement: Reliable transportation is required because shifts begin at 5:30 a.m. and occasionally as

early as 3:00 a.m., when public transit may be limited.

Key Responsibilities

 Prepare and cook menu items according to approved recipes, portion standards and food-safety requirements.  Set up, stock and maintain an organized kitchen station throughout the shift.  Prepare vegetables, proteins, sauces, sides and other menu components.  Complete opening, closing, cleaning and sanitation duties as assigned.  Label, date, store and rotate food using FIFO procedures.  Communicate shortages, delays, quality concerns and equipment issues promptly.  Support restaurant, takeout, delivery and catering production during busy periods. Work respectfully and cooperatively with kitchen, delivery and front-of-house team members.

Qualifications and Requirements

 Previous restaurant, short-order, catering or commercial-kitchen experience is preferred.  Strong basic food-preparation and safe knife-handling skills.  Ability to follow recipes, production lists and instructions consistently.  Ability to remain organized and productive in a fast-paced kitchen.  Reliable attendance, punctuality and weekend availability.  Manitoba Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain it upon hire.

Working Conditions

This onsite position involves extended standing, frequent bending and reaching, repetitive hand movements, and lifting

and carrying up to 60 pounds. The employee must be able to work safely around hot equipment, food products, cleaning

materials and commercial kitchen operations. A three-month probationary period applies.
