Shopper and Category Manager (m/f/d)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Shopper and Category Manager, you are responsible for translating category and shopper insights into impactful Point of Sale (POS) strategies and orchestrating their implementation to achieve growth above the market and incremental sales for your brands or categories; In this role, you focus on both online and offline activation, ensuring that shopper marketing initiatives, POS materials, and trade communications are insight-driven, customer-centric, and fully aligned with Brand, Sales, and Category objectives; You collaborate closely with internal and external partners to deliver best-in-class in-store execution and omnichannel shopper experiences that drive visibility, conversion, and long-term category growth.

KEY TASKS:

  • Understand category and shopper insights and use them to define, produce, coordinate, and control all below-the-line (BTL) programs, POS materials, and trade/shopper communications across brands, channels, and online/offline touchpoints;
  • Lead discussions on Category Vision and in-store key development drivers, deliver impactful trade stories (for example via workshops or presentations), and develop category management projects for customers;
  • Drive the strategic yearly plan on promotional packs in consultation with brand and category core teams, develop new promotion mechanics in alignment with the Sales team, and orchestrate end-to-end implementation;
  • Leverage analytics and technology (such as AI tools and internal digital platforms) to identify best-performing promotions and activations, analyze market and customer sales data, and optimize POS investment;
  • Define Retail Media campaigns in collaboration with Key Accounts and Media Managers to drive brand visibility and sales growth at customers, adopting an omnichannel approach and using data analytics to maximize return on investment;
  • Deliver efficient and effective POS solutions with maximum visibility, in line with Brand, Sales, and Category objectives and within budget, while monitoring implementation, execution quality, and outcomes;
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (including Marketing, Sales, Medical, Customer Support, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Trade & Digital Marketing) and take full responsibility for project management of POS, trade promotion, and shopper activation activities;
  • Manage relationships with third-party suppliers, monitor ongoing performance against agreed KPIs, and collaborate with external partners such as customers, trade press, and promotion agencies.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or an equivalent qualification;
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in POS planning and implementation, in-store activation, shopper marketing projects, and business challenges, with a proven track record preferably in OTC or FMCG-related industries;
  • Good understanding of POS and print industry, including digital developments and emerging technologies;
  • Self-driven leader with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and drive projects to completion;
  • Strong project management skills and a pronounced customer-focus mindset;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented and networking mindset, and the ability to convince, persist, and challenge the status quo;
  • Fluency in German and English, both spoken and written; French would be a plus.
