Job Description

The Shop Technician plays a key role in keeping DiCAN's warehouse, production area, and service teams running smoothly. This hands-on role is responsible for assembling and testing DiCAN products, supporting inventory management, and maintaining an organized, safe, and efficient shop environment.

The ideal candidate brings previous electrical or electronics assembly experience, enjoys working with their hands, and takes pride in producing high-quality work. This role works closely with the Operations and Service teams and contributes to continuous improvement across shop processes and product assembly.

Key Responsibilities

Product Assembly & Quality

  • Assemble DiCAN products according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Test completed assemblies and identify issues or adjustments.
  • Package products with appropriate hardware and documentation.
  • Assist with project builds and order preparation.
  • Support component assessment and repair processes.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Perform electrical assembly, wiring, crimping, and soldering of DiCAN products.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support quality control, product testing, and final inspections.
  • Document assembly issues, repairs, and product updates as required.

Inventory & Warehouse Operations

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Update inventory systems with product information and quantities.
  • Support shipping, receiving, and organization of incoming materials.
  • Prepare products and materials for shipment.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse and shop environment.
  • Assist with maintaining tools, equipment, and workstations.

Vendor & Materials Support

  • Pick up materials from local vendors as required.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Follow purchasing procedures and documentation requirements.

Safety & Team Support

  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Maintain shop tools and equipment.
  • Support teammates and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an assembly, manufacturing, production, warehouse, or technical shop environment.
  • Previous experience with electrical assembly, electronics, low-voltage systems, or wiring is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical instructions.
  • Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Experience with wiring, crimping, soldering, and electrical assembly techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies, products, and systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and continuously improve.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable, accountable, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in a warehouse and shop environment.
