Shop Support Service Engineer

Provide engineering support for Mitsubishi Power gas turbine repair and manufacturing activities for OEM and selected non-OEM gas turbines. Serve as an advanced engineering resource leading manufacturing qualification efforts, process improvements, cost reductions, design enhancements, and technical evaluations. Make sound recommendations that support safety, reliability, product integrity, and customer satisfaction while exercising leadership with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical development programs for gas turbine components, including manufacturing qualificationof new products and component upgrades.
  • Drive resolution of manufacturing, repair, and field service issues using root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate non-conforming products and provide technically justified dispositions that balance reliability, performance, and business needs.
  • Support business units by delivering technical clarifications, design changes, configuration definitions, and process improvements.
  • Identify and evaluate design changes that reduce cost, improve quality, and shorten lead times.
  • Develop and maintain repair criteria standards, engineering documentation, and configuration control processes.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet Mitsubishi Power and customer requirements.
  • Support ISO 9001 compliance, safety initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in occasional travel and provide support outside normal business hours when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with turbomachinery coursework.
  • Preferred minimum of six years of directly related engineering experience; advanced degrees may be considered toward experience requirements.
  • Knowledge of industrial gas turbine configurations, materials, manufacturing processes, welding, machining, and repair techniques.
  • Experience supporting supplier development, customer relations, and technical problem resolution.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and prepare technical reports, journals, correspondence, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to make sound engineering judgments.
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering and business software tools, including Microsoft Office and relevant engineering applications.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and following all required safety procedures.
  • US Citizenship required to fulfill job responsibilities.
