This position is responsible for supervising all maintenance shops operations for a private fleet of heavy equipment, ready mix trucks, tractor/trailers and personal vehicles. This is an Exempt position and will be assigned a company vehicle.

Typical hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM during production season and Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM during maintenance season. Hours may vary depending on business need.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  1. Obey and enforce all safety rules and work in a safe manner.
  2. Perform occasional maintenance.
  3. Must be able to give proper instruction to heavy equipment and truck technicians.
  4. Must be able to diagnose and recommend repair or maintenance needed on all trucks and heavy equipment.
  5. Ensure that proper housekeeping is attained by all employees throughout the work shift.
  6. Must be able to prioritize jobs and coordinate a continuous work flow to all technicians.
  7. Will hire, supervise, train, and evaluate all employees in the maintenance shop.
  8. Will be responsible to ensure that all shop staff are given proper safety training.
  9. Will coordinate all human resource issues including vacation/payroll/special requests from production staff and explain company policies to workers.
  10. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  11. Analyzes and resolves work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
  12. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  13. Maintains Safety, HR, maintenance, and other records as required.
  14. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  15. Will supervise and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance across all divisions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

  1. High School diploma or General Education Degree.
  2. Minimum of 8 years of truck and heavy equipment mechanic experience.
  3. Two years of related vocational training is desirable.
  4. Driver's License is required.
