Shop Service Tech Apprentice - Texas First Rentals

The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will assist the Shop Service Supervisor through on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources;3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions

· Assists in performing maintenance and repair of rental fleet
· Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
· Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure proper functioning
· Adjusts, connects, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
· Attends required classroom instructions by Pro-Tech and HDSI classes
· Maintains safety training and procedures
· Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership
· Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
· Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
· Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications
· Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
· Ability to read, write, and interpret information
· Ability to follow directions and guidelines
· Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
· Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment
· Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
· Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Requirements

Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required

Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None

Travel:
· Very limited travel and overnight stays are expected for this position

Physical Requirements:
· Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
· Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
· Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
· Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders
· Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment
· Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment:
· Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
· Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks
· Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole body vibration
· Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
· May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
