Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Overseeing the maintenance and repair of trucks/trailers
  • Overseeing Preventative maintenance schedule
  • Ensuring DOT compliance with safety regulations with equipment
  • Overseeing inventory
  • Supervising staff
  • Evaluating and purchasing parts
  • Negotiating with vendors and finding ways to reduce costs
  • Identifying negative trends and working with Transportation team to improve
  • Managing P&L from R&M standpoint
  • Involvement with the purchase of new assets
  • Managing the tire program
  • Implementation of SOP’s
  • Evaluating current best practices
  • Promote and maintain a safety culture within the shop and the company
  • Manage and maintain productive, cost-efficient repair shop
  • Create, review, correct and close work orders, while retaining proper documentation on all repairs. Will scan needed items into the fleet maintenance computer program, create and manage purchase orders and update the information in the fleet maintenance program.
  • Achieve and maintain shop efficiency, and create productivity goals
  • Responsible for Identifying warranty work and performing all the necessary tasks to file and collect warranty reimbursements, including labeling, storing & shipping warranty parts.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

Must have an exceptional knowledge of parts and inventory management

Knowledge of Tire program management and Tire adjustment

Education and/or Experience:

5+ years of supervisory experience in a shop environment

3+ years parts/inventory management

Must have extensive working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, CSA2010, Hours of Service, CARB

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be in an outside shop or an open cubicle and/or normal office environment. The candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
