Shipping/Receiving Clerk
Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Clerk in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth-oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace, and fabrication industries.
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing shipping duties and processing related paperwork.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares finished goods accurately for shipment according to customer requirements.
- Stores materials and supplies within the warehouse according to company procedures.
- Manages shipping supplies inventories according to company procedures.
- Manages finished goods inventory per company policies.
- Signs for incoming deliveries as required; loads and unloads delivery trailers/trucks by hand or with material handling equipment as needed.
- Forwards shipping and receiving documentation in a neat and orderly manner.
- Records shipping and receiving details to the appropriate department on a regular and timely basis.
- Fills out production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.
- Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
- Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
- Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
- Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a shipping clerk.
- Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid OSHA Forklift certification
Physical Demands:
Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)
- Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
- Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance
Other Physical Requirements:
Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Steel-toed boots
- Hard hats with chin straps; chin straps must be worn at all times in the warehouse.
- Protective eyewear
- Hand protection
- Arm guards/sleeves
- Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program
Work Environment:
May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
- Working inside of the warehouse
- Moderate to loud noise levels
- Vibration
- Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles
- Day and night shifts
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Ability to communicate oral and written effectively to both internal and external customers
- Must have basic math skills
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints' should have mechanical aptitude
- Good analytical and organizational skills; able to make sound decisions with data at hand
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism & diplomacy to include telephone etiquette
- Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Products (Word, Excel and ERP)
