New Indy Packaging is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support both outbound and inbound logistics at our corrugated converting facilities. This hybrid role is critical to maintaining seamless shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate documentation, timely scheduling, and efficient communication across departments, vendors, and customers.

Shipping Responsibilities

  • Monitor the status of outbound loads and provide real-time updates to relevant teams.
  • Schedule customer pickups and coordinate common carrier shipments from Shoemaker, 166, and Proactive facilities.
  • Communicate trailer movements to third-party logistics provider (Venture) and internal teams.
  • Guide shipping loaders to ensure correct order staging and truck loading practices.
  • Process shipping paperwork for customer orders, including CTPAT compliance (receive TJ trucks, print load tags, upload shipment documents).
  • Manage Return Goods Authorizations (RGAs), including scheduling pickups and coordinating sorting with internal contacts.
  • Check planning tools for "for billing" orders and generate Delivery Receipts (DRs).
  • Obtain competitive freight quotes for out-of-zone deliveries, ensure appropriate freight charges are captured, and submit requisitions for POs.
  • Maintain the common carrier freight tracking spreadsheet and follow up on delivery statuses.
  • Conduct floor walks to inspect outbound pallets and trailer loading for quality standards (presentation, stretch wrap, strapping, trailer loading configuration, etc.).
  • Receive incoming raw materials (where applicable), maintenance supplies, and drop shipments.
  • Verify Bill of Lading (BOL), quantities, and item accuracy; communicate discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
  • Print load tags and ensure all inbound pallets are properly labeled and accounted for.
  • Assist with sorting and staging of received materials for production or transfer.
  • Document and organize receiving paperwork in compliance with inventory and traceability requirements



Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
  • Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook) and logistics documentation systems.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of the corrugated packaging industry, including terminology and production flow, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, load sheets, and BOLs.

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and standing or walking for extended periods.

About New-Indy Containerboard LLC

New-Indy Containerboard, LLC was formed in 2012 as a joint venture by the Kraft Group, LLC and the Schwarz Partners, LP. We are the NEWest, INDYpendent manufacturer and supplier of recycled containerboard to the corrugated box industry. However, the company is comprised of owners and leadership with decades of experience, and the paperboard mills have been serving the Southland for thirty plus years.

NICB uses 100% recycled fiber in our manufacturing process. The mills receive over 100 truckloads of Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) on a daily basis. This material is reduced to a slurry and then re-formed to create new brown paper. The recycled paper is then sent to box plants throughout our local markets.

Each of the two California locations has a co-generation power plant that not only provides 100% of the mill’s electrical power needs, but also supplies power to thousands of CA homes and businesses through our partnership with Southern California Edison. In addition, the mills purchase recycled water from the local utilities, and our processes conserve water by recycling it multiple times.

Over the years, our mills have undergone major improvements, including installation of advanced air emissions control equipment (which reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides), waste-water treatment plants (which clean and recycle waste-water) and numerous other upgrades. We have enjoyed multiple years of operation without any environmental Notices of Violation.

We believe our focus on environmentally conscious manufacturing processes and supply chain solutions will enable us to maintain a strong business presence in the markets we serve for many years to come.
