Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping Technician is responsible for performing assigned tasks in the Shipping department. This position supports production process improvements and the production teams with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and efficiency. * This is a fulltime Nightshift position*
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: (main functions)
Ø Safe operation of Fork Trucks.
Ø Extensive knowledge of mill travel routes for shipping and production.
Ø Housekeeping in the shipping end.
Ø Communicate shipping issues to Shipping Supervisor.
Ø Isolate non-conforming goods for rework.
Ø Accurate unit identification.
Ø Initial inbound sheets and bill of ladings of accurate number of units loaded and recordkeeping.
Ø Complete shift paperwork on time.
Ø Execute proper pattern loading for flatbed trailers, vans and railcars with approved packaging as required by mill loading standard.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
Qualification(s) / Training Requirement(s)
Ø Eligible to work in the United States
Ø High School Diploma or GED
Ø 1 year experience loading trucks and/or railcars is required.
Ø Experience working a warehouse environment is helpful.
Skills, Knowledge & Attitudes/Behavior
Ø Ability to maintain all equipment in assigned areas.
Ø Computer hardware knowledge or can be trained.
Ø Ability to work independently.
Ø Strong communication skills.
