Job Description

Keep Legendary Equipment Moving

Every compressor and engine we build or service has to leave our dock on time, accurate, and ready to work. That is where you come in.

As Shipping Supervisor at Cooper Machinery Services, you will lead the team that gets our products out the door and into the field. Our brands, including Cooper-Bessemer™, Ajax™, and Superior™, trace back to 1833 and support more than 22,000 units around the world. You will own shipping operations from the shop floor to the carrier, lead a hands-on team, and have a real say in how we get better.

If you like running a tight operation, solving problems quickly, and leading people through procedure-driven work, this is a role where you can make a visible difference.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the shipping team and oversee daily operations, including order fulfillment, equipment, documentation, and safety and health
  • Drive improvements in shipping efficiency, accuracy, and on-time delivery
  • Make sure sales orders and shipping documents are accurate and in place before anything is loaded or delivered
  • Work with carriers and freight providers to schedule pickups and resolve delivery issues
  • Adhere to a daily cycle counting process that raises inventory record accuracy to 95% or higher
  • Lead the annual physical inventory
  • Monitor and process scrap material and inventory shrinkage related to shipping
  • Keep the shop production schedule on track by making sure outbound orders are pulled and staged on time
  • Document clear, efficient procedures that meet our internal standards and state and federal regulations

Who You Are

Experience and education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5 years in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations (crating, packaging, booking)
  • 1 or more years of supervisory experience
  • Forklift, parks picker, and crane experience required
  • Working knowledge of shipping, logistics, and inventory management concepts
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP

How you work

  • A sound decision-maker. You can weigh options when standards only partly cover the situation, and you think about long-term impact.
  • A leader who gets results through others. You are comfortable supervising technical, procedure-driven work.
  • A clear communicator. You work well with management, carriers, and other departments on logistics.
  • An owner. You take a goal, decide how to reach it, and follow through.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience running cycle counting or inventory accuracy programs
  • Background in an industrial, manufacturing, or OEM environment

Don’t meet every preferred qualification? Apply anyway. We want to hear from strong candidates who meet the core requirements.
