Supervise Forklift Operators and Truck Drivers in daily shipping duties to the customer’s complete satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedule deliveries in the most cost-efficient and time-saving manner possible
  • Attend daily Scheduling Meeting and assist the Plant Scheduler in meeting our customers’ requirements
  • Prepare work orders for and coordinate repairs of trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doors
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department. Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable
  • Adhere to daily production schedule. Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals
  • Establish high morale within the department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality
  • Develop strong rapport with various freight lines
  • Accurately prepare bills of lading
  • Ensure accurate stock locations in shipping warehouse
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program, and good housekeeping
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Strong math/algebra skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years experience as a Forklift Operator and/or Truck Driver.
  • One year shipping experience.
  • Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
    • College and/or related technical experience.
    • One year supervisory experience as a proven manager of at least five people.
    • Four years experience in the corrugated box industry.

Leadership Requirements:

  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead an effective and efficient meeting.
  • Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understands and demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.
  • Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
  • Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).

Performance Measurements:

  • Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.
  • Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior.
  • Employee relations - through observations the employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication.
  • Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
