BxT is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Bapco Energies, bringing together complementary market expertise, trading capabilities and regional presence.

Based in Dubai and reporting to the Product Charterer, the Shipping Market Analyst will join BxT's shipping and trading activities, supporting commercial and strategic decision-making through high-quality analysis of oil shipping markets, tanker dynamics and freight economics. The role will work closely with the freight and trading desks, as well as BxT teams in Geneva, contributing to key internal tools, publications and market intelligence.

This is a hands-on analytical position requiring a strong understanding of energy and shipping markets, the ability to turn complex and real-time data into actionable insights, and advanced Python capabilities to develop robust analytical tools. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, trading-oriented environment.

Activities

  • Understand the drivers of oil shipping and freight markets, including refining and trade flows.
  • Collect and structure real-time data on tanker markets and freight rates.
  • Develop ad-hoc indicators and decision-making tools to track market trends.
  • Build scenario-based models to interpret signals from the oil and freight markets.
  • Identify business needs and develop automated market intelligence tools.
  • Provide timely insights to support trading strategies and market positioning.
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for the oil chartering team.
  • Contribute to the development of U-TRACK, our proprietary Trading & Shipping tracking tool.

Candidate Profile

  • Master’s degree in economics, engineering, or energy.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, trading, and shipping.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly in English (Arabic is a plus).
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming, with experience developing and maintaining analytical solutions involving tools and libraries such as Streamlit, Pandas, API integrations, and automation. Familiarity with Databricks is an advantage.
  • Analytical mindset, rigor, autonomy, and initiative.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and with tight deadlines.
