Position Summary
The Shipping Manager role provides day-to-day coaching and guidance within the shipping and distribution operations, including yard inventory, order entry and load deliveries, while maintaining safe work practices. This role reports to the Plant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the right people in the right seats within the department team to achieve ownership and accountability, providing day-to-day coaching and guidance to department team members to develop them to their fullest potential.
- Manage customer service, dispatch, inventory control, & delivery of products, including yard processes and personnel.
- Oversee safe loading & unloading of products, according to DOT trailer specifications.
- Oversee the communication & coordination of load deliveries with customers, drivers & outside transportations services, ensuring cost effective carriers are used for all deliveries.
- Oversee order entry & customer product returns, ensuring that all invoicing & inventory databases are routinely up to date in ERP.
- Maintain and organize yard inventory and accuracy by confirming all goods are stored in the proper place, performing cycle counts, and informing management of low inventories detected.
- Maintain extensive knowledge in all Prinsco products, accessories & applications.
- Provide updates to delivering manufacturing plant, to keep production advised of incoming orders & customer requests, working with sales and customers to exceed expectations.
- Work with Logistics and Fleet Managers to maintain DOT requirements and to arrange for necessary fuel & equipment repair, to maintain service of company vehicles.
- Implement best practices for operating equipment, coordinate training for staff in accordance with those practices and ensure best practices are followed by all team members.
- Support continuous improvement (CI) initiatives in the manufacturing process(s).
- Cascade objectives and operational performance to plant team members.
- Drive Safety (EHS) and be a safety role mode, including Investigating all accidents, determining the root cause, & taking necessary measures to ensure the accident cannot happen again; improving processes & safety training for all team members; striving for zero accidents; participating in safety audits, & meetings; and ensuring regulatory compliance (labor, environmental, transportation, OSHA, etc.).
- Ensure effective team member relations, monitoring team member performance, providing coaching, and administering discipline with tact and respect while being clear about expectations in accordance with Prinsco’s values.
- Complete quarterly conversations and annual performance appraisals.
- Focus on cross-training, continuous learning and improvement.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferred with a minimum of two years of shipping leadership experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment required.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to analyze data/facts/drawings to support valid conclusions and to solve practical problems or deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Proficient with MS Office products and ERP.
- Honest and fiscally responsible.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT requirements for interstate drivers and equipment with a CDL preferred.
- Ability to achieve forklift certification.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and use hands or reaching with hands/arms occasionally.
- Standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for over 2/3 of the workday.
- Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate colors.
- Ability to work in a production environment that is not temperature controlled and occasionally in varying outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to work in a loud noise environment.
