The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing all outbound warehouse operations to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective shipment of materials. This role leads shipping staff, manages carrier coordination, and ensures customer orders are picked, packed, staged, and shipped correctly while maintaining safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all outbound shipping operations, including picking, packing, staging, and loading orders for delivery or customer pickup
Ensure all shipments are accurate, complete, properly packaged, and shipped according to customer and company requirements
Coordinate daily shipping schedules with delivery drivers, common carriers, and internal transportation teams
Monitor order status and ensure deadlines are met; proactively resolve delays or issues
Verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, delivery paperwork, and system confirmations
Utilize the company ERP system to release orders, confirm shipments, research order status, and pull shipping reports
Communicate effectively with sales, customer service, warehouse leadership, and drivers to resolve shipping issues and customer concerns
Lead, train, and develop shipping associates to ensure consistent adherence to procedures and safety standards
Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment as needed; forklift experience required
Enforce safety policies, conduct equipment safety checks, and maintain a clean, organized, and secure shipping area
Oversee outbound inventory accuracy, including staging integrity and load verification
Manage returns, mis-ships, and freight claims in coordination with appropriate departments
Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines in a drug-free workplace
Present and maintain a professional image and positive work environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple outbound priorities
Proven experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in a supervisory or management role
Forklift experience required; certification or ability to obtain certification
Strong attention to detail to ensure shipment accuracy and documentation compliance
Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems to process shipments and track order status
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to resolve shipping discrepancies and delivery issues
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
