Job Description

The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for providing planning, administration, and technical direction for outgoing product. This position must ensure that planning/shipping is making efficient use of resources and meeting the needs of the customer. Must be able to communicate and coordinate with customers, sales team and third parties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the shipping process is being consistently followed.
  • Participate in weekly scheduling meeting and daily production meeting
  • Create, maintain, and update locked shipping schedule that meets customer requirements and production capacity
  • Liaise with customers, sales department, plant/production managers, third party contractors, freight carrier and production planning staff to ensure customer deadlines are met
  • Create and process shipments in ERP system
  • Reference engineer drawings to build loads and relay information to carriers
  • Obtain freight quotes for shipping needs and customer requests
  • Maintain and update existing databases pertaining to outgoing product
  • Cooperating with all areas within the company to ensure overall company goals are met
  • Implementing cost-effective procedures and process improvements
  • Occasional use of indoor and outdoor forklift
  • Follow AGI’s Code of Business Ethics and related compliance policies
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum two years’ experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and multitask
  • Possess advanced Microsoft Excel and computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language
  • Strong work ethic and drive
  • Ability to coordinate and liaise with various departments and external contacts
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing situations and short deadlines
  • Understanding of manufacturing and production is an asset

Health and Safety

  • Understand applicable Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures in the workplace
  • Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor/manager and/or a JHSC member immediately
  • Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage to your supervisor/manager and/or a JHSC member immediately
  • You may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, high visibility vests, etc.).

Working Conditions

Physical Environment:

  • Requires use of office equipment
  • Will be required to converse with other individuals such as outside customers, vendors, shipping and purchasing team members.

Workplace Hazards:

  • Risk of repetitive motion injuries or musculoskeletal strain.
  • At times will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when entering the production floor.
  • May be exposed to noise, dust and hot/cold temperatures when in the production area.

Team & Work Environment:

  • While the work is primarily independent, it will require interdepartmental collaboration to procure the necessary receiving documentation from shipping and purchasing.
  • Communication will be critical in dealing with interactions in person and over the phone.
  • Fast-paced production setting with set quotas or deadlines.

Effort Requirements

Mental & Cognitive Effort:

  • Attention to detail for quality control and safety compliance.
  • Following complex instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Problem-solving for minor machine malfunctions or production issues.
