The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for preparing shipping documentation and maintaining all shipping records and reports in accordance with established Company procedures. Receive, store, and issue shipments, equipment, and other items for the warehouse.
Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.
• Coordinates shipping requirements with approved freight carriers to ensure planned shipments are covered and are available
• Maintains outbound shipping logs daily to support finance invoicing and customer service request
• Manages dock assignments to maximize efficient loading and unloading of carriers
• Communicates with Local Drivers using the Order Management system to coordinate trailer exchange
• Manages available drop trailer fleet to smooth operational workloads
• Processes control sheets through AS400 to initiate the loading process
• Coordinates, Bill of Lading process, and the processing of recipient orders to active waves
• Coordinates with approved carriers to ensure all shipments have available transportation and that trucks have designated pickup and delivery times
• Manages import container tracking and delivery
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management
Years of Experience and Knowledge:
Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• May be required to use department specific database systems
• Knowledge of principles involved in planning and resource allocation of distribution operations
• Knowledge of AS400 a plus
• 1 year experience Materials planning or shipping and receiving in a manufacturing operation or administration of a distribution or warehousing operations
Competencies: Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.
